From the textured open-air markets of San Diego to the vibrant streets of Tijuana, Daniel Barron-Corrales’s upbringing was a fountain of information for his innate curiosity. In response to these ever-changing conditions, he sot comfort in the subtleties that united the dualities of his physical and cultural worlds.
As an artist, Barron-Corrales employs the seemingly mundane as a point of departure to further understand how we confront and are confronted by the everyday. Working in a variety of media, he combines contrasting themes and materials to re-contextualize their fundamental features while further compressing them to condensed gestures. The final works are meant to reframe the fragments that compose the world around us, in an attempt to shine light on the nuances of the individual human experience.
